Privacy Policy

The short version: Widgets On Top collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you write stays on your Mac. The only time the app touches the internet is to look up a currency exchange rate, and that request contains nothing but two currency codes.
Information we collect
None. Widgets On Top does not collect, transmit or store any personal information. We have no servers, no database and no way to identify you. We cannot see your notes, your to-dos or anything else you put in a widget.
Where your content lives
Notes, to-do lists, habits, timers, widget positions and your settings are stored locally on your Mac, inside the app’s own sandboxed container. Files you attach to a Media widget are copied into that same folder so the widget can keep showing them.
This data is included in your Time Machine or other local backups, and in an iCloud device backup if you have one enabled — those are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy, not by us. Deleting the app removes its container and everything in it.
The one network request
If you add a Currency widget, the app requests an exchange rate from frankfurter.dev, a free, open-source service that republishes the European Central Bank’s daily reference rates.
- The request contains only the two currency codes you selected, for example EUR and USD.
- It contains no identifier, no account, no device information and nothing you have typed.
- It is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- The rate is cached on your Mac and refreshed at most a few times a day.
- If you never add a Currency widget, the app makes no network requests at all.
As with any internet request, the receiving service may see your IP address. We have no access to that information and receive nothing from them.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
There are none. Widgets On Top contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no advertising framework and no third-party tracking libraries of any kind. Nothing you do in the app is measured or reported.
Purchases
Widgets On Top is sold through the Mac App Store as a one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, your name or your email address. Apple provides us only with anonymous, aggregated sales figures.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and, because it collects no data whatsoever, it collects no data from children either.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Any change that affects how data is handled will also be described in the app’s release notes.
